The Department of Management and Marketing in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming invites applications for an assistant instructional professor position (non-tenure-track) in Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management and an additional position in Strategy and Entrepreneurship, beginning Fall 2025. Instructional professors can be promoted to the associate and full ranks (without tenure).
The department seeks candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways across all three pillars of academia (i.e., teaching-75%, research-20%, and service-5%). The person who fills the open position must, foremost, demonstrate a passion for innovative, experiential-oriented teaching and, thus, be able to contribute to the strong teaching reputation of the department’s faculty. The OB/HR position may teach courses such as Human Resource Management, Management and Organizations, and Organizational Behavior and Leadership, or they may teach advanced HR topics. The Strategy and Entrepreneurship position may teach courses such as Strategic Management, Introduction to Management, and Introduction to Entrepreneurship. The standard teaching load in the college for instructional professors is 3 courses per semester (or 6 per year). Instructional professors can receive a reduced teaching load for leading large sections. The ideal candidate will also conduct research resulting in peer-reviewed publication at a pace that keeps them scholarly-academic qualified by the AACSB. The department annually provides these professors modest support for research and other professional development opportunities, and the college offers summer funding opportunities and research grants to support research. Finally, the person who fills this position will contribute to the service culture within the department by providing outreach support to UW stakeholders, serving on university committees, and providing student-oriented service. UW’s College of Business seeks to revise and create programs that address market demands and the person who fills this position will assist their tenure track colleagues in these efforts.
Qualified individuals (see minimum and desired qualifications below) should complete the online application and upload the following: cover letter, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., a portfolio of recent teaching evaluations), and contact information for three work-related references. Review of application materials will begin on October 28, 2024, however, the position will remain open until filled. Only completed applications will be considered. Position-related questions can be directed to the search committee chair Dr. Nick Prince (nprince@uwyo.edu).
